With its fairytale-like texture and hot air balloons adorning the sky, Cappadocia is one of the world's most romantic outdoor shooting locations. However, achieving those dream photos isn't just about a click of the shutter; it requires serious planning and harmony with nature.
Before coming to Cappadocia, many of our couples reach out to us with questions like, "Do balloons fly every day in Cappadocia?" or "Where is the best place to take photos in Cappadocia?" Here is everything you need to know about Cappadocia balloon photoshoots to help you plan your shooting process!
1.When Do the Balloons Take Off?
Kapadokya’da balonlar günün her saati gökyüzünde olmaz. Balon uçuşları sadece gün doğumu The balloons in Cappadocia aren't in the sky at all hours of the day. Balloon flights take place exclusively during the sunrise hours. Therefore, to capture that fairytale atmosphere, we need to be at the shooting location before dawn. When sunrise arrives, the result of that soft golden hour light combining with the balloons is truly mesmerizing.

2.Are There Balloon Flights Every Day?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that the balloons will definitely take off every morning. Unfortunately, no. Balloon flights are entirely dependent on the weather. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation checks the wind speed and weather conditions every morning before flights. If the conditions are favorable, the green flag is hoisted, and flight permission is granted. Safety is always the top priority.

3.When Are Balloon Flight Cancellations Announced?
Usually, whether the flight will take place isn't finalized until the very last moment (up until the morning shoot time). However, sometimes it is clear a day in advance that the weather will be very bad. In this case, Civil Aviation may issue a cancellation notice beforehand. We follow this process in real-time and keep our couples informed.

4.Where is the Best Shooting Location in Cappadocia?
Unfortunately, there isn't a single answer to the question, "Where is the best place to shoot the balloons?" This is because balloons move according to the wind direction. Every morning, pilots determine their launch sites and routes based on the wind. Because of this, the balloons can be over a different valley every day.

5.Should We Chase Balloons During the Shoot?
In our photography philosophy, balloons are not the main subject but rather complementary elements that support the fairytale atmosphere. Constantly chasing balloons throughout the entire shoot can overshadow the spirit of the session and the emotion between the couple. Our goal is to capture that dreamy vibe as the balloons spread across the sky, while always keeping the focus on our couple and their emotions.

6.What Do We Do if the Balloons Don't Take Off? (Backup Day Plan)
We always recommend this to our couples coming to Cappadocia for an outdoor shoot: Set aside at least 2-3 days for Cappadocia. We always try to leave a "backup day" in our shooting schedule for our couples. If the balloons don't take off on the first day, we try our luck again on the second day. Our goal is to ensure that, at the end of this process you've worked so hard to prepare for, you achieve the shots of your dreams.

7.Can We Have a Cappadocia Shoot Without Balloons?
Absolutely yes! Sometimes, due to weather conditions, there can be periods where flights are canceled for an entire week. But remember; Cappadocia isn't just about balloons.
Cappadocia is a very rich geography. In fact, we often notice that the shoots we do without balloon-related stress turn out to be much more natural and intimate. Balloons are wonderful accessories, but the true spirit of Cappadocia is hidden in its earth, its stones, and your love.
